Imran Khan Arrest Warrant: A second warrant has been issued for the arrest of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan. The first arrest warrant against Imran was issued on 21 August and the second on Friday (30 September).
Imran Khan is accused of threatening a Pakistani woman judge Jeba Choudhary and some police officers while addressing people in a meeting. In this case, in one and a half months, two arrest warrants have been issued against Imran Khan one after the other. Regarding this, Imran supporters are protesting by taking to the streets in many big cities including Islamabad of Pakistan. If Imran Khan is arrested, he will be the fourth Pak PM to go to jail. Before this, three former prime ministers of Pakistan have been jailed.
These three former PMs of Pakistan have gone to jail
Former Pakistan Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was jailed in 1977 for the murder of an opposition leader. In 2018, former Pak PM Nawaz Sharif was also sent to jail in the corruption case. At the same time, in the same corruption case in 2019, former Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi also had to go to jail.
What did Imran Khan say?
On 20 August, during a public meeting in Islamabad, Imran Khan had said, “Shame Islamabad IG and DIG, we will not spare you, we will file a case against you… and Magistrate Sahiba Jeba, you should also be ready, even against you.” We will take action.”
However, on 30 September, when the warrant for his arrest was issued for the second time, on the same day Imran Khan reached the Islamabad Sessions Court to apologize to Judge Jeba Choudhary. In a video, Imran Khan is seen saying in the court, “I have to tell Madam Jeba, Imran Khan had come, wanted to apologize if my words hurt anyone.”
