Features of VACV-Based Vaccines
Matthew McKay of the University of Melbourne said specific VACV-based vaccines have previously demonstrated high efficacy against monkeypox virus and are considered an important outbreak control measure. We still lack scientific data to determine how well the human immune response from VACV-based vaccines will recognize MPXV-2022 and provide protection against disease, he said.
