iPhone 14 Satellite feature: Apple launched many of its new products on 7 September. These include iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max to regular iPhone 14 etc. Along with this, Apple has also launched a special satellite feature in the iPhone 14 series. This feature is present in all the four newly launched phones. The special feature of this feature is that you can make emergency SOS messages through satellite. That is, even if there is no network in your iPhone, you can get help by making an emergency call or message. However, for this satellite feature, you will have to pay a separate charge to Apple.
The person hosting the event at the Far Out event said that Apple’s new phone can make emergency calls or messages via satellite. He said that Emergency SOS through satellite will be a paid feature. Apple users will have to pay to Apple to use this new feature in an emergency. The iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro series models will get two years of free service, after which there will be a charge for this service.
Why will Apple charge for the satellite feature?
Apple said that the satellite connectivity feature will connect iPhone 14 users to a responding satellite and that connection will be used to send SOS calls or texts. Apple does not have a satellite of its own, so it will use the services of Globalstar.
The company, founded in 2001, operates a group of 24 satellites in low Earth orbit to service cell phones equipped with the Globalstar Satellite feature. The Apple iPhone 14 is equipped with Globalstar’s satellite services that connect the device to satellites and allow Apple users to message 911 in the US and Canada. Also, when a user sends an emergency SOS using satellite communication, a call center makes an emergency call for them. For this reason, it is likely that Apple will charge for emergency SOS via satellite service.
