Aaron Finch On T20 World Cup: Australia’s T20 captain Aaron Finch has said that nothing is going to change in the team’s preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup to be held at home. Recently, Finch had retired from ODI cricket due to poor form in the last one year. He said that T20 cricket is a really tough format and his team is just focusing on how to play it in the best way without thinking too much about the pressure.
Finch told SEN 1170 Afternoon on Tuesday, “People outside are saying we have extra pressure because you’re going to play at home and you’re defending (the World Cup). We didn’t talk about that (pressure) once.” The reality is that whenever you play for Australia, there is pressure.”
“We certainly haven’t focused on that, we’re really clear on how we want to play, we take this for granted that T20 cricket is a really tough game,” Finch said.
Australia will enter the competition as favourites, although Finch has been in poor form, with many experts urging the selectors to look at alternatives, especially young all-rounder Cameron Green.
However, Finch said that he wants to give his all in his last international tournament as captain. “I’ve always given my 100 percent focus on the next match or series, in terms of planning and preparation, I don’t think it’s any pressure, but I think I can do a little bit better,” Finch said. Australia will begin their World Cup defense against New Zealand at the SCG later this month.
