Ravindra Jadeja Mahela Jayawardene Team India: Sri Lankan batting great Mahela Jayawardene feels that all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s injury is a big setback for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup while Virat Kohli’s return to form is a positive sign for India. Jadeja had undergone knee operation a week ago. Jadeja is constantly updating by posting messages on social media to keep fans updated about his progress.
The 33-year-old Jadeja did not play in the 2022 Asia Cup due to injury and due to injury, he could not go for the West Indies tour in July. Jayawardene said in the ICC review on Saturday, “It is a challenge for India. Jadeja was perfectly fit in his role of number five. He was batting well. Recently, IPL team Mumbai Indians appointed Jayawardene as the Global Head of Performance of Mumbai Indians by removing him from the post of head coach. Jayawardene said that despite Jadeja’s absence, India can boost their morale with the fact that their star batsman Virat Kohli is back in form. Virat recently scored a century in the Asia Cup.
Kohli had scored his 71st century after a gap of 1,020 days, ending his century drought. Jayawardene said, “He batted well in the Asia Cup and showed what he has. He will prove to be important for India in the World Cup.”
Jayawardene also said that India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s return to fitness has boosted morale. Jasprit is very effective with the new ball and in the end. He will do well in Australia.
