IPL 2023: The bugle of IPL 2023 has started ringing. Teams have started preparations for the mini auction. Teams are releasing existing players. All the teams have to submit the list of their 15 players to the BCCI by November 15. Even before this bad news has come to the fore for KKR. The team’s star player Sam Billings has decided to leave the team. The wicket-keeper batsman gave information about this by tweeting and told why he would keep distance from IPL.
English player Billings made a tweet taking the decision not to play IPL. He wrote, “I have made the difficult decision that I will not participate in the next IPL. I want to focus on the longer format at the start of the English summer.” Billings clearly stated that he is deciding not to play IPL due to long format cricket. This decision was very difficult for him. Billings was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2022 mega auction for a price of Rs 2 crore.
Didn’t do anything special in 2022
His performance in the IPL 2022 season was mixed. Billings played a total of 8 matches for KKR, scoring 169 runs at an average of 24.14 and a strike rate of 122.46. In this 36 runs were his high score.
It is worth noting that the players’ trading is going on before the mini auction. KKR have made Kiwi fast bowler Lockie Ferguson, who plays for Gujarat Titans, a part of their team in trading. Lockie Ferguson performed well for Gujarat Titans, taking 12 wickets in 13 matches of the last season. Apart from this, KKR has also made Afghan wicket-keeper batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz a part of its team.
