Saeed Ajmal on Pakistan Squad: Former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal is not happy with the selection of his country’s T20 World Cup squad. He has expressed displeasure over the selection of some players in this squad and the dropping of some more capable players. On the selection of young spinner Mohammad Haris, he has raised questions on PCB Chief Rameez Raja.
Analyzing Pakistan’s squad on his YouTube channel, Saeed Ajmal said, “Muhammad Haris was selected because he is Rameez Raja’s choice. He is her favourite. Rameez likes them very much. That’s why he has been kept in the team. If there was a selection on the basis of performance, then Sarfaraz Ahmed is playing very well in the domestic T20. You could have kept him in the reserve players.
Ajmal also said that PCB could also consider keeping Sharjeel Khan in the squad. Sharjeel last played a match for Pakistan in August 2021. In the recent National T20 Cup, he played an unbeaten 107 against Balochistan.
Here is Pakistan’s World Cup squad: Babar Azam (Captain), Shadab Khan, Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shan Masood, Usman Qadir.
Reserve Player: Mohammad Haris, Fakhar Zaman and Shahnawaz Dahani.
Questions are being raised on the selection of these players
Pakistan has given place in its World Cup squad to almost the same players, who were fed in the Asia Cup 2022. However, Khushdil Shah, Iftikhar Ahmed, Asif Ali could not impress much in the Asia Cup. Pakistan had definitely reached the final of the Asia Cup 2022 but it had to face defeat in 3 out of 6 matches. In the three matches in which the Pakistan team won, there were also two very close matches.
