Delhi Capitals assistant coach Shane Watson on Wednesday confirmed that Australia opener David Warner and South African pacer Enrique Nortje will be available for selection against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the DY Patil Stadium on Thursday. This is good news for Delhi, who are trying to recover from a 14-run loss to Gujarat Titans in Pune on Saturday.
Watson said, “David Warner is now definitely over his quarantine period and is available for last night’s match, which is going to be very exciting. Recovering from his injury.”
Watson further said that Australia’s all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has doubts over his selection for the match against Lucknow as he is still battling an injury during training for the one-day matches against Pakistan.
All the players of Delhi are now present in the bio bubble of the team. Watson feels that now the challenge for the support staff will be to decide the right combination for the rest of the tournament. “It is the biggest challenge for us in coaching and from the point of view of selection that to make a super team it is necessary to decide the right roles for each person, the way everyone is performing well,” he said.
It is worth noting that Delhi had a good start in this season. The team defeated Mumbai Indians by 4 wickets in their first match. Whereas in the second match he had to face defeat. Gujarat beat Delhi by 14 runs. Delhi’s next match is with Lucknow Super Giants on 7 April.
