Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting wants his team to improve their batting in the power play, as poor batting led them to lose their second match of IPL 2022 against Gujarat Titans. Chasing 171 runs for victory, Delhi’s team could score 43 for 3 in the power play against Gujarat and eventually lost. Hence, the Delhi head coach has blamed poor batting in the first six overs for their loss in the second match.
Ricky Ponting said, “Unfortunately for us in the second match in a row three wickets fell in the powerplay and we lost before eight balls. It gets difficult. This is definitely an area where we need to get better.”
Delhi Capitals were able to control the target well against Gujarat on Saturday with Rishabh Pant and Lalit Yadav making a comeback. He was dismissed midway before sharing the game with Rishabh Pant and Rovman Powell at one point.
Ponting further said, “There was a bit of panic. At one stage we were ahead in the match and that’s why it was a bit of a disappointment.” Ponting has set some tasks for Shaw, who has not been able to perform at his best so far.
The Delhi coach further said, “He batted beautifully in the first match, but after that he could not move forward and did not do what he wanted, but we were able to win the first match due to a good start.”
