The Cricket Board of India (BCCI) is preparing to auction the media and broadcast rights for the next five years (2023 to 2027). Tenders are going to come out soon for this. Renowned companies like Disney, TV-18, Zee, Amazon Prime, Sony will participate in this. A report quoting BCCI sources has also revealed that this time the giant tech company Apple can also enter the field to buy IPL media rights. Let us inform that at present the broadcasting rights of IPL are with Star Sports Network.
Invitations-to-tenders can be purchased till May 10 for the online auction of IPL media rights. After this, this auction is proposed to be held in June 2022. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah says, ‘This entire process will be kept transparent. Whatever we earn from the auction, we will invest in the infrastructure of Indian domestic cricket.
This time media rights will be auctioned in a different way. It is divided into four sets. This includes 1. TV Broadcasting Rights (Indian Subcontinent), 2. Digital Rights 3. Cluster of 18 Competitions 4. Broadcasting and Digital Rights outside the Indian Subcontinent. All these sets will be auctioned separately. Till now all these sets were in the same category.
The BCCI has kept the base price of all these four packages at Rs 32,890 crore. But BCCI expects that they can get revenue of up to 55 thousand crores in the auction.
